Who we are
Larkspur Conservatory Roofs is a team of surveyors and fitters who specialise in one job. We remove tired polycarbonate or glass from conservatory roofs and fit made to measure insulated panels into the existing frame.
Every panel we fit wraps a 75 mm solid foam core in aluminium on both faces. Its U-value is roughly 0.43 W/m²K. A 16 mm polycarbonate sheet sits at roughly 2.3. In practice that means a room you can sit in during January, one that stays out of the direct sun in July, and one where rain sounds like rain rather than gravel.
Why one kind of roof
Specialising makes us better at it. Our surveyors look at conservatory frames, glazing bars and wall junctions every working day. They can tell a healthy frame at a glance, and they spot the early signs of a failing one. Our fitters use the same trims, seals and methods on every job, so nothing is being worked out on your roof for the first time.
It also takes away the temptation to upsell. We have no bigger project to steer you towards. If your conservatory needs a full replacement roof with a new frame, that is not something we build, and we will tell you so rather than sell you something that will not last.
Our patch
We survey and fit in seven parts of England:
- Yorkshire
- the North West
- the Midlands
- the East of England
- London
- the South East
- the South West
Our town pages list the towns in each region. If you live near the edge of a region, get in touch anyway.
How we price
Our prices are on this website for anyone to read. A small roof starts at £3,000 fitted, a medium roof at £4,000 and a large roof at £5,000. Five things are inside every figure: the strip out and recycling of your old roof, panels in the colour you choose, the fit, the council application with its charge, and our 10 year insurance backed guarantee.
Only three extras exist: £395 per glazed roof light, £345 for LED spotlights, £295 for gutters and fascia. The price breakdown shows what each part pays for, and the roof builder uses the same rates our surveyors do.
After the survey you get one fixed figure in writing. It stays that figure unless you change what you have ordered.
What we refuse to do
People often come to us after a sales visit that went badly somewhere else. These are the lines we do not cross, and you are welcome to hold us to them.
- We will not run a sales evening. Our surveyors measure, check and explain. They do not phone a manager from your kitchen for a special deal.
- We will not invent a deadline. Your price does not fall if you sign tonight or rise if you wait a fortnight.
- We will not skip building control. A solid roof normally needs approval, and we apply for it every time.
- We will not overstate the panel. It is about 0.43 W/m²K. The regulations aim for 0.15 on a new roof, and we will never tell you our panel gets there.
- We will not fit onto a frame that cannot take it. If the surveyor has doubts, you will hear them before any price.
Who we are not right for
Being honest about this saves everyone time. We are probably not your installer if:
- you want your conservatory roof to match the main house roof exactly;
- your frame or dwarf walls need rebuilding before any roof can go on;
- you want new polycarbonate sheets put back on like for like.
For everything else, the week by week timeline shows what working with us looks like. When you are ready, the quote form takes a couple of minutes.
Questions
Do you work in Scotland or Wales?
Not at the moment. We work in seven English regions: Yorkshire, the North West, the Midlands, the East of England, London, the South East and the South West.
Why do you publish your prices?
So you can see what a roof like yours costs before we ever knock on the door, and check that our written figure matches. It also means the survey is about your roof, not about haggling.
Will you tell me if insulated panels are the wrong choice for me?
Yes. If the frame is not up to a new roof, or you are after a look panels cannot give, the surveyor will say so plainly rather than quote.
Do you put new polycarbonate back on?
No. We only fit insulated aluminium panels. New polycarbonate would give you the same cold, noisy roof you have now.
